Biography Laerty Tavares Laerte Tavares was born on January 23, 1968, in the city of Colatina – ES At eighteen years old, after completing high school, he entered the Seminary, in Vila Velha – ES, where he studied Philosophy and Theology. At the institution, he started his drawings, producing posters and images, his inspiration came from his mother who, despite being illiterate, had an exquisite trace in the drawing of still life. In 1989 he left the Passionist Order, moving to the United States of America, where he began his self-taught artistic training, attending workshops and Free Art schools. He first went to New York, where he met Takashi, a Japanese artist who started in the technique of drawing. On his return to Brazil, he dedicated himself to teaching philosophy at high school. At the same time, he continued to invest in his artistic training. He graduated in Philosophy and Arts from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). Currently, he paints abstract themes, marinas (especially the Procession of São Pedro) and floral – in love with glasses of milk, which earned him the series “Deleite” and the series “Flores do Campo”. Since 1995 he has participated in art exhibitions – individual and collective, in addition to painting panels on church altars – especially the Church of Sant'Ana in Marechal Floriano, a 50-meter fresco on the Altar Mor and sets of television programs. His works, quite present in Espirito Santo homes, in other States and also in other countries, can be appreciated in the collection of the Chamber of Deputies - Brasília - DF, Caixa Econômica Federal - CEF - Vila Velha agency - ES, of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Espírito Santo – at UFES (Federal University of Espírito Santo), at the municipal library of Oliveira do Norte – Portugal, among others. He has received several awards for his work, he is an Artist cataloged in the Julio Louzada dictionary – the largest art catalog in Brazil and a participant in the most important art catalogs in the country, always as a guest. It received an appreciative review by Silvia Meira (Curator and Art Critic at MASP – São Paulo Art Museum). He recently had the honored invitation to illustrate the cover of the book of Poetries by the French Dr. Alain Saens, Rector of the Universidad Del Norte. For more than twenty years, he has been permanently exhibiting his works in his own Atelier, where he also teaches an ONLINE course in drawing and painting for beginners and professionals (technical improvement) as well as on-site courses in utilitarian and artistic ceramics, as well as directing workshops in other states. In 1999, he taught the subject of Philosophy in the undergraduate courses in Administration and Law, at the Union of Higher Education Schools in Capixaba – UNESC. Also in that year, he began his undergraduate course in Plastic Arts at the Federal University of Espírito Santo and soon after he began his master's degree in Educational Science and wrote the book – “Academic Painting Manual”. He was president of SINDIAPPES (Union of Professional Plastic Artists of the State of Espírito Santo. During his tenure, he created the annual exhibition VITÓRIA EM ARTE, today the largest exhibition of Espírito Santo art in Espírito Santo, with more than 10 exhibitions, always taking place in September in honor of to the foundation of the city of Vitória – ES In 2005 he returned to teaching philosophy for the 3rd Degree at the invitation of the FABRA (Brazilian Faculty) – UNESC (University Center of Espírito Santo) and DOCTUM (Education Network) faculty board. and Art for undergraduate, graduate and in his own studio in Manguinhos na Serra and in - Vila Velha (Praia da Costa), maintaining his attitude of mixing Art, Education, subjectivity and Sustainability.
